System

One installation. Hard water and chlorine, both gone.

Most metro homes have two water problems: mineral hardness and chlorine taste. The combo system fixes both in a single installation at the main line.

Softener + filtration combo for your home.

If your home has hard water and a chlorine taste, addressing them separately means two installation visits, two system footprints, and two maintenance schedules. The softener-filtration combo handles both at the main line in a single installation. The carbon filter removes chlorine and chloramines first, and the softener removes hardness minerals downstream, so each system works on already-prepared water.

This sequencing matters. Running hard water through a carbon filter first means the carbon media isn't competing with heavy mineral load. And running pre-filtered water through the softener means the resin bed stays cleaner longer. The result is better performance from both systems and extended media and resin life.

Pure Water Co sources all equipment through Honest Water Co and every installation is completed by a licensed plumber. We serve homeowners in Omaha, Elkhorn, Papillion, and across the metro. Schedule your free water test and we'll build the right combo configuration for your water source and home.

What's included

What you get.

  • Free in-home water test

We test hardness, chlorine, chloramines, TDS, and iron to know exactly what you're dealing with before recommending a configuration.

  • Carbon filter + softener, sequenced correctly

Carbon filtration is installed upstream of the softener, so each system receives the water it's designed to treat and both perform at full effectiveness.

  • NSF-certified equipment throughout

Both the carbon media and the softener resin are sourced through Honest Water Co and carry NSF certification for performance and material safety.

  • Single-visit licensed installation

A licensed plumber installs both systems in one visit, connecting to the main line and setting up bypass valves, drain lines, and the brine tank.

  • Full system walkthrough

Before we leave, we test treated water at the tap, confirm hardness and chlorine are both addressed, and walk you through salt and backwash maintenance.

  3. Single licensed installation

Both systems go in during one appointment, carbon filter upstream and softener downstream, connected to your main supply line.

  4. Confirmation and walkthrough

We test at the tap to confirm both problems are solved and walk you through the maintenance for each system.

FAQ

Softener + filtration combo questions.

Carbon media upstream of the softener protects the resin from chlorine, which can degrade softener resin over time. The softener then works on pre-filtered water, which extends resin life and improves overall performance.

Not significantly. Both systems are installed in a single visit by our licensed plumber. The main difference is that two tanks need space near your main line, typically four to six square feet.

It depends on your water test results. Some homes primarily need softening, while others mainly need chlorine addressed. Our free water test gives you the exact numbers so you can make an informed decision.

Yes. The [reverse osmosis drinking water system](/services/reverse-osmosis-drinking-water) installs under the kitchen sink and works well downstream of a softener-filtration combo. Many homeowners add it at the same time.
